I studied at Christ Church College, Canterbury, where I gained a First in Music in 1983; and received a scholarship in Music Composition at the National Film School, Beaconsfield, 1990-1994, and I am an Affiliated Member (visiting artist researcher) of the Digital Studio for Design, Representation and Communication (DIGIS), Martin Centre, University of Cambridge.I studied pianoforte with Jean Phillips at Christ Church College, Canterbury then I trained with Dr Frank May in Pianoforte at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Part-time Studies.
I teach pianoforte and generally teach in pupils' homes. I teach all levels, beginners to advanced.I live close to Mortlake Station and am within easy reach of East Sheen, Richmond and surrounding areas. I charge £35 per hour and £19 per for half an hour from home, but if travelling to pupils' homes I charge £40 per hour or £23 per half hour, though I am flexible on rates.
I prepare students for the ABRSM Graded Music Examinations 1-8 in Practical Piano and Theory, and have been CRB checked.
I am also an Associate Member of the British Academy of Composers, Songwriters and Authors, and an Associate Member of PRS.
In April 2012 and July 2013 I led film music workshops for teenagers at Rowan Arts in Holloway Road.
I have been music tutor at the Halfway House (Students 19-25), Cambridge University Moving Image Studio (mature students), and have been a freelance lecturer in film music since 1999 at international film schools such as Norway, Egypt and arts clubs and colleges.
